The Memphis Wings started play in the CHL in the 1963-64 season as the Indianapolis Capitols. Unfortunately, part way through that season their arena burned down and they were forced to move. They landed in Cincinnati and played out the year as the Cincinnati Wings. For the 1964-65 season, they moved to Memphis and adopted the colors of their pro affiliate and became the first professional hockey team in Memphis. They wouldn't find a lot of success there, missing the playoffs twice and losing in round one once during their three years in the city. For the 1967-68 season, the Wings would move to Fort Worth where they would later become the Fort Worth Texans.
