Fort Worth Fire

The Fort Worth Fire started play in the CHL in 1992, joining their Metroplex counterparts, the Dallas Freeze, as a fire and ice rivalry. While the Freeze would only last a few seasons, the Fire existed through 1999 staving off NHL expansion to Dallas for a few seasons. The Fire were also the first hockey team in Fort Worth since the Texans dissolved in the old CHL in 1982 and played in the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena.

The Fire weren't great for most of their existence, and finished with an above .500 record in only two of seven seasons. However, the did come away with a CHL title in 1996-97. They won 45 games (13 more than any of their other seasons) and beat the Memphis Riverkings in seven games to take the playoff crown.
