In their second season of 1997-98, they were a league worst 18-48-0-3. However, they would pull of a worst-to-first turnaround and win 40 of 69 games in 1998-99, including a division title. That year would be their only playoff appearance, as they would advance to the second round. By year four, the team was hurting financially and couldn't pay the rent at Heart of Texas Coliseum.
