EHL - Eastern Hockey League (1933-1977)

For the better part of four decades, the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) entertained hockey fans in the eastern half of the United States. The league was founded by Tom Lockhart, now in the Hockey Hall of Fame. From New York to Charlotte, and even Nashville, Tennessee the league was a rough and tumble 'A' league hockey. One of the most famous alums of the league is John Brophy, former Maple Leafs coach and inspiration for Paul Newman's famous character, Reg Dunlop, in the movie Slapshot.
