Ottawa Nationals

The Ottawa Nationals were an expansion franchise of the WHA playing only one season, 1972-73. They played at the Ottawa Civic Center and had a decent year notching 35 wins and making the playoffs where they would square off against the New England Whalers. But by the time the playoffs rolled around the Nationals were in financial trouble due to poor attendance and owed money to the City of Ottawa. Rather than pay Ottawa, they moved all of their home playoff games to Toronto. They lost the series to the eventual champion Whalers, and would subsequently be sold and relocated to Toronto as the Toros.
