Fayetteville Force
The Fayetteville Force hockey team played out of the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC, starting with the 1997-98 CHL season. While the team won only 27 games its first season, it was popular in Fayetteville and drew about 4,000 fans per game. Over the next couple of seasons, the team improved on the ice and won 35 and then 45 games. With 45 wins in 1999-00 season, they held the best regular season record in the CHL. Unfortunately they would fall in the first round of the playoffs to Macon. After one more go around in the 2000-01 season, the Force folded as the league merged with the WPHL and lost most of its eastern US teams.
