Alabama Vintage Hockey Apparel
Four defunct Alabama hockey teams from Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile, on shirts, hoodies, hats, and jerseys you will not find anywhere else.
Alabama is not the first state anyone names when the subject is hockey, which is exactly why the teams that played here are worth remembering. Birmingham had a World Hockey Association franchise in the 1970s. Huntsville and Mobile both drew real crowds through the minor league boom of the 1990s. This is where they live on.

Alabama hockey history
Birmingham. Pro hockey came to Alabama in 1976 when the Toronto Toros of the World Hockey Association moved south and became the Birmingham Bulls, playing three seasons at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center before the WHA folded. The Bulls continued on, and for the 1982–83 season the Civic Center hosted the Birmingham South Stars, a farm club of the NHL's Minnesota North Stars whose name and logo made the connection plain. They lasted one season. Birmingham got another Bulls team in the 1990s, and a hockey club still plays in the city today.
Huntsville. The Rocket City's pro hockey history is a chain of short-lived teams in the same arena. The Huntsville Blast played a single season in 1993–94 before the franchise moved to Florida. The Huntsville Channel Cats followed, playing through the second half of the 1990s in the Southern Hockey League and then in another league, and won league championships along the way. Huntsville has kept pro hockey more or less continuously since, and the Havoc still skate at the Von Braun Center.
Mobile. The Mobile Mysticks were the Gulf Coast's minor league team from 1995 to 2002, playing at the Mobile Civic Center with one of the more memorable logos of the era.
Four teams, three cities, and a lot more hockey than Alabama gets credit for.
