Arkansas Glaciercats History
The Arkansas Glaciercats were the first professional hockey team in Arkansas history, starting play in the WPHL for the 1998-99 season. They played at the Barton Coliseum in Little Rock to solid crowds of over 4,000 per game that season. They would go 37-27 in their first season and make the playoffs, a successful start for sure. They would enjoy another good campaign for their second season in 1999-00, with 32 wins and a second-round playoff appearance. Unfortunately, the team would fold following the season. Part of the cause was likely the introduction of the ECHL's Arkansas Riverblades at the newly opened Alltel Arena.
