Halifax Citadels

When the Fredricton Express were moved to Halifax in 1988, they became the Halifax Citadels, and they continued their affiliation with the Quebec Nordiques of the NHL. Playing out of the Halifax Metro Centre (at the bottom of Citadel Hill), the team replaced the departing Nova Scotia Oilers, who had moved to Cape Breton. The Citadels would play from 1988 to 1993 in the AHL before moving to Cornwall, Ontario and becoming the Cornwall Aces. The Citadel would only make the playoffs their first two years in Halifax, getting bounced in the first round each year. The Citadels were the last professional hockey team to play in the capital city of Nova Scotia, after their departure in 1993.
