Clinton Comets

One of the legendary teams of the EHL, the Clinton Comets brought big time hockey to a small town in Oneida County, New York. Hockey in Clinton dates back to the 1920s, and in 1954 the team joined the Eastern League where they would play for the next 19 seasons. They missed the playoffs only three times, winning the league five times (1959, 1964, 1968, 1969, 1970). When the EHL folded the team moved down the road to the big city of Utica, NY and became the Mohawk Valley Comets in the NAHL. Those Comets would fold with the NAHL in 1977 but the tradition of hockey in Clinton continued and the Historic Clinton Arena still hosts hockey today. Clinton was also named Kraft Hockeyville for 2018 and hosted an NHL pre-season game at the arena.
