New York Raiders

New York Raiders

The New York Raiders were one of the WHA's original franchises and targeted the newly built Nassau Coliseum for their home on Long Island. However, the NHL quickly expanded to Long Island and boxed the Raiders out of their original plans. Scrambling, the Raiders took up residence in New York City in the same house as the NHL's other New York team. The Raiders lined up famous New York hockey player Camille Henry as their coach. The team was a financial disaster and the league took them over during their first season. After the year, they would be sold and rebranded as the New York Golden Blades.
