Nashville Ice Flyers
The Nashville Ice Flyers were a short-lived team in the Central Hockey League from 1996-98. The team was originally the Nashville Nighthawks for the 1996-97 season, changing their name and design for the subsequent campaign. The team played at Nashville Municipal Auditorium both seasons.
For the 1996-97 season, they were dreadful and posted a 12-52-0-2 record and ditched their coach mid-season. For year two, they did complete overhaul of the roster and saw an impressive turnaround take place. They would go 41-19 and make the playoffs. In the first round, they would sweep Huntsville in three games. Unfortunately they would lose in the second round to Columbus, the best team in the league that season. After that, the team would fold as Nashville's NHL franchise came to town.
