Philadelphia Quakers

The Philadelphia Quakers were the city's first top flight ice hockey team, long before Broad Street had its Bullies. They originated in Pittsburgh as the Pirates, playing at Duquesne Gardens. However, with great depression setting in the team fell on hard times and to make matters worse, needed a new arena. So, they set off for Philly and changed their name to the Quakers to match the city's history. But things would only get worse. In their only year in Eastern PA, they went 4-36-4 and folded at the end of the season. Their record low winning percentage of .131 would stand for another 45 years. One bright spot; the Quakers can boast Syd Howe as an alum.
