Philadelphia Blazers
The Philadelphia Blazers were a short-lived WHA team that played one season in the City of Brotherly Love at the Philadelphia Civic Center. The franchise originally began as the Miami Screaming Eagles, but when they were unable to secure an arena in Florida, the team was sold and moved north to Pennsylvania. The Blazers time in Philly also got off to a false start when on opening night, the ice cracked under the weight of the zamboni and forced the game to be rescheduled. The Blazers would win about half their games in 1972-73, losing in the first round of the playoffs. The team would be sold after the season and moved to the northwest to become the Vancouver Blazers.
