New York Rovers

The New York Rovers are a classic team in New York hockey scene that has largely been forgotten. The played in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) as a farm team for those guys on Broadway with the same colors between 1935-1952. Usually, they would be part of a double or triple header, as local amateur teams would stay the afternoon before the Rovers took the ice, with the professionals rounding it out at night providing fans with a full day of hockey action. The Rovers were revived for a couple years at the Long Island Arena in Commack before changing their name to the Ducks in 1961. The brand would be revived one final time for the 1964-65 season but only lasted the one year. Unfortunately a team with a rich history of Manhattan hockey has been sitting dormant since then.
