Orlando Jackals
The Orlando Jackals played in Roller Hockey International for the 1996 and 1997 seasons at Orlando Arena. The team was originally the Edmonton Sled Dogs in 1994, then the Orlando Rollergators in 1995. Real estate mogul Norton Herrick bought the team before the 1996 and pumped millions into them. The team took off, with 17 and 20 win seasons on the rink and almost 5,000 fans per game in the stands. Unfortunately roller hockey was still a losing investment as Herrick reportedly lost $4 million over the two years in Orlando. The team and league would fold after the 1997 season.
