Philadelphia Bulldogs

The Philadelphia Bulldogs were a part of Roller Hockey International for three summers from 1994-96. The team was part of RHI's massive 1994 expansion that saw the league double from 12 to 24 teams. The league was really a mix of people running the clubs. Sometimes it was a fly-by night operation with little money and sometimes there were actually big time sports owners (in LA, the Buss family) and celebrities involved.

The Philadelphia Bulldogs were in the latter category, as they were owned by celebrity Tony Danza and Ron Salcer, an NHL agent. The Bulldogs also brought in former Flyers in Dave Schultz and Bob Kelly to help run the team. Unfortunately, for what is probably one of the better prepared RHI franchises, things didn't go too well anyway. The team averaged between 3-4,000 fans per game and lost six figures in their first year. They would hold on for three seasons, but were never a huge success. However, we at least got this program cover with Danza modeling the uniform!
