Syracuse Blazers
For 10 years, the Syracuse Blazers were one of the best teams in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and then in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The Blazers, who were broadcast over the airwaves by none other than a young Bob Costas, won league titles in 1973, 1974, and 1977. In 1973, they went an unbelievable 63-9-4 in league play on their way to their first title, which included six players scoring 100+ points. The Blazers would fold in 1977 along with the rest of the NAHL, but not before their home ice of Onondaga County War Memorial was used in the film Slapshot.
